Donate Local

When you hear the words ‘buy local’, it might bring to mind wooden crates overflowing with fresh produce, boutique shops with handmade soaps and knitwear, or the old-fashioned candy shop you’ve been taking your kids and grandkids to for years.  But what comes to mind when you hear the words ‘donate local’?

Sources Food Bank

Local stores and restaurants, farms, and food businesses wanting to make a valuable social impact in their community now have the opportunity to donate local and support their local food bank. Sources Foodbank recently found a new home in the Township, after serving the Langley area for the past four years, and welcomes and appreciates donations from the Langley business community. Did you bake a few too many products for your cafe that could be offered, or have an unexpectedly high-yield crop with enough remaining to donate a bushel of nutritious veggies to those in need? Give Sources a call and arrange a convenient drop-off time, and help the community that in turn supports our local businesses!

Sources is a member of Food Bank BC and Food Bank Canada, and provides individuals and families who live on a low income, with a minimum of 2 days’ worth of food per week, as well as offering other community services. With over 1,100 registrants in the last quarter alone, and over 400 of them being children, Sources has become an invaluable community resource. Keeping healthy high-protein, fresh fruits and veggies available is a challenge, and local farms and businesses that have the means to contribute make a positive difference. When you donate locally, you not only connect with your community, you also get to see how your donations create positive change in the place you call home.

All monetary donations from businesses of every type are welcome! For every $1 donated, Sources is able to purchase $3 worth of food goods!  Sources is recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency as a registered charity.

Buying local is vital to supporting our economy, and donating local is equally important to support the social wellbeing of our community as a whole. Your business can be a part of something great. Consider donating local today!
