Filming Collaboration

The Township of Langley’s diverse locations, landscapes and settings, excellent production capabilities, and financial incentives has made us one of the most film-friendly municipalities in the Lower Mainland. The Township, along with other municipalities in the Metro Vancouver region, are part of a new Regional Prosperity Initiative; a new collaborative approach to prosperity for the Metro Vancouver Region.

Filming CollaborationOne of the first collaborations is the development of a Regional Film Application Portal. This online portal will serve as a centralized gateway by standardizing and streamlining the application process across participating municipalities. This will enable film production companies to apply to film in one or more participating municipality simultaneously, while only having to complete the necessary paperwork once.

The ‘soft launch’ of the new film portal is expected to take place in early January 2019. Several municipalities, including the Township, have been selected to participate in the testing phase before the portal is rolled out to all participating municipalities.

We are proud to be a part of this project within the Metro Vancouver Regional Prosperity Initiative and look forward to this new and innovative online service as we continually strive to provide excellence in customer service to the creative/film industry; an industry that employs over 1,700 Township residents and generated $5.2B to the provincial economy in 2016 alone!
