Western Canada's largest grocer Overwaitea Food Group is setting its sights higher these days – up to the third floor of its now expanding headquarters in the Township of Langley, to be exact.
Overwaitea, which owns Save-On-Foods among other food retailers, has applied to the Township and been granted permission to add a third floor to its existing two-storey office building located at 19855 - 92A Avenue in northwest Langley.
The company has been in operation for more than 100 years and has called the Township home since 1991. Not wanting to relocate its head office and inconvenience hundreds of staff members, Overwaitea is hoping the expansion will accommodate its growing workforce, expand current operations, and provide space for its e-commerce business and food safety department.
"Overwaitea's e-commerce is currently operating out of nearby satellite offices" said Vice-President of Real Estate Frank Picard. "The expansion of head office enables Overwaitea to stay put, so not to displace our team members, but it also brings all our operations under one roof."
Overwaitea, which has been recognized as one of BC's top employers, puts to work more than 600 people. The company is proud to say many of its senior leaders started at the company's front line, bagging groceries and rising their way to the top.
