It's official: the Township of Langley has been recognized as the fastest growing municipality in Metro Vancouver.
According to the latest census poll by Statistics Canada, the Township’s population grew 12.6% between 2011 and 2016, from 104,177 to 117,285 residents. That’s nearly double the growth rate for the region, as the census metropolitan area of Vancouver rose by 6.5% during that period.
Mayor Jack Froese isn’t surprised that more and more people are choosing to call the Township home.
“This is a unique place with beautiful parks and natural spaces, vibrant urban centres, and abundant opportunities for housing, employment, education, and recreation,” said Froese. “The Township truly offers an exceptional quality of life.”
The growth is great news for the Township’s economy, added Val Gafka, Senior Manager of Corporate Administration.
“With more than 7,000 businesses operating in over 550 diverse industries, the Township offers one job for every member of the workforce,” said Gafka. “We have been named one of the top five Best Cities for Work in BC and we take pride in being able to provide our residents with great opportunities for employment near where they live.”
